JULY 3 & 5 Sweeney Todd the Barber
By Brian J. Burton Directed by Sean Fitzharris-Onyon & Kario Pereira-Bailey
The story of the demon barber of Fleet Street has been a classic since 1847 and was the feature of Queen Victoria's first command performance. Brimming with song and humor, it is a great example of good old fashioned melodramatic style. To quote the show's directors, "In a world where people have to choose between staying alive and staying clean shaven, one man has the courage to stand up to the demon of Fleet Street and bring his reign of terror to an end. Unfortunately, he dies in the first act."
Sponsored by the Potter Stewart, Jr. Law Offices
Performances are: Fri July 3 & Sun July 5, both at 3:00 pm. Ticket prices: All Seats $7.00
JULY 3 & 5 The Servant of Two Masters
By Carlo Goldoni Directed by Nick Bombicino & Harry Poster
Does poor Truffaldino, the inspired but slightly whacky servant, deserve
our pity or our scorn? Hungry and broke, he succumbs to opportunity and
agrees to work for two masters, hoping to keep it secret from each of
them. By doing so, he opens the door to a whirlwind of comic confusion,
much to our delight.
The past two hundred fifty years haven't worn any of the shine from Carlo
Goldoni's Commedia dell'arte classic, and directors Nick Bombicino and
Harry Poster juggle this array of servants, masters, lovers and others
with aplomb.
Sponsored by the Potter Stewart, Jr. Law Offices
Performances are: Fri July 3 & Sun July 5, both at 7:30 pm
Ticket prices: All Seats $7.00
Be sure to see the special performance of The Servant of Two Masters at the Brattleboro Town Common on Tuesday July 7 at 7:00 pm.
