CINDERELLA AT THE BALL GAME

Sponsored by The Richards Group

Cinderella At The Ballgame is a wonderful new comic take on the
classic Cinderella story. Written by NEYT Founder and Artistic Director,
Stephen Stearns, this new play was created with NEYT’s Young Company
during a series of classes held during the fall of 2008.  Many of the
students who took part in the improvisations that produced the Cindy story
will perform in this world premier of the completed play.

Uncle Stevie, an avid baseball fan, captures the essence of the
classic downtrodden, browbeaten Cinderella, but places the story
in the context of baseball’s golden years, 1930-1950. There's even a radio
announcer, reminiscent of Red Barber and Mel Allen, who will help set the
stage for this “Boys Of Summer” tale.

Our heroine Cindy loves baseball and practices faithfully with her animal
friends. She lives near Fenway Park and has not only a Godmother, but
also a real Mafia Godfather. We discover that she must contend with a
wicked stepmother and three selfish step-siblings (yup, a brother too), and
needs to cleverly escape organized crime villains who will stop at nothing
to influence the outcome of the World Series.

Oh no!  It’s the ninth inning, the home team is losing, there are two
outs, the Prince of all “closers” is coming in to pitch and
who is that stepping up to the plate?  Find out for sure at NEYT on
October 9th at 7:00 PM, 10th at 10:30 AM & 7:00 PM and 11th at 3:00 PM.

Children of all ages (yup, adults too) will laugh, sigh, gasp and
cheer as NEYT’s Junior Company performs Cinderella At The
Ballgame, a play destined to become a Youth Theatre classic!

Tickets:  Adults $9.50, Students & Seniors $7.50
