This two day class will study the process, tools and materials involved in designing a project for stage/film. Discussion, envisioning and development of a stage set for Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory will be explored.

The Monologue Workshop, 12 & Up, 3:30 – 6:30 TUES, MAY 12
Participants in these workshops will actively learn what goes into selecting, shaping, and preparing for a successful monologue audition. Whether you are hoping to audition for a play, a special acting program, or simply hoping to sharpen your acting skills, this experience will expand your abilities. While only one monologue per person will be developed, each participant should bring 2 monologues, 1 to 2 minutes in length, contemporary or classical.
Big Theatre Games for 14 to adults, 5:30 - 8:30 with food break - MON, MAY 11
Indulging in the delight of pure play, participants study how “acting is reacting” and how inspired creativity can happen in the very moment of doing. Expect a big group and huge fun.

Truthful Acting: a Basic Method Class, 10 – 14, 11 am – 1 pm, SAT, MAY 16
15 and up, 3:30 – 5 pm, FRI, MAY 15
This class covers two major areas of concern - relaxation and concentration. Whatever style or role an actor is working on, it must finally be real. To that end, students will be taught through various sensory and relaxation exercises how to get in touch with the truth inside themselves. No preparation necessary.

Sight Acting Shakespeare Master Class, 18 +, 10 am – 12 pm - FRI, MAY 15
Sight Acting Shakespeare Master Class , 13 - 17, 11am - 1pm - SAT, MAY 16
An introduction to sight acting Shakespeare - the magic of the text made flesh. These classes will examine ways in which actors can approach Shakespeare's text without fear, and look at the language as a way of decoding character. Material will be tailored to the appropriate age groups.

Mime - The Rhetoric of Gesture, 15 +, 1 - 3 pm - SAT, MAY 16
This class introduces the Marcel Marceau style and Etienne Decroux MIME technique in which the focus is on pantomime acting and on the use of gesture for the speaking actor. We will explore movement, perception, spatial awareness, and the physics of space –with circus tricks adding levity to the gravity.
Silent Acting: The Forgotten Art of Silent Theatre,12 +, 11–1 pm, SUN, MAY 17
An introduction to the variety of the silent cinema and the power of its theatrical acting style (and a natural follow-up to the Saturday Silent Film lecture) this class uses film clips to enhance the study of silent theatrical acting. Topics include the grammar of physical expression and conventions of pantomime. There is a focus on creating original nonverbal scenarios, both comedy and drama, and playing solo and group silent scenes.
“What’s Up Your Sleeve, Grandpa?” 14+, 3:30- 5 pm - FRI, MAY 15
(Impromptu magic, tricks, stunts, diversion, bets, challenges and amusements with simple stuff)
This class will show you how to do cool and unusual things to everyday objects like paper, pencils, napkins, rubber bands, money and objects at the dinner table. Learn wonderfully useless things – how to be silly, make laughter, generate wonder and perceive all objects as having peculiar and hidden talents. Leave the youngsters at home; this is simply grown-up nonsense!

Musical Theatre Audition Master Class, 12+, 4 - 6 pm - WED, MAY 13
A Master class from a master performer. Each student will have individual time to explore a song, with focus on finding the emotional truth and telling the story. Bring the sheet music for a song you are familiar with – a part in your own age-range.

Auditioning with a Monologue Workshop, 13 +, 2 - 5pm - SAT, MAY 16
In this intense study we will discuss and analyze advanced text, break down language and beats, discover objectives and focus on presentation. Classical pieces recommended but not required.
Scene Study, 13+, 10 - 1 (w/food break) - SUN, MAY 17
This advanced class will focus on social political circumstances of a given play, search for respective objectives by each character, break scene down into actions per beat then focus on presentation. No need to secure a scene partner beforehand; just prepare one a role from one of the pre-selected scenes that will be made available in the NEYT office.

Acting Out! Workshop, 13 - 19, 11am – 1 pm - SAT, MAY 16
In this dynamic workshop we will weave together poetry, theatre, and hip-hop while engaging in creative writing, theatre exercises and games, and improvisation. We will create original poems, short theatre pieces, and songs, with the accompaniment of a live DJ spinning hip-hop beats. At the end of the workshop, pieces will be shared in a poetry slam/open mic format.

Join us for coffee and bagels and a Q & A with the artists still in town. Topics may include: how to prepare for a career in the performing arts; what the life of a working performer really looks like; how to keep yourself open and ready for opportunity; performing war stories.
