How does the actor in you use words, timing, gesture to "sell" the trick effectively
SAT, MAY 15
Classes:
10. Avner Eisenberg - Clowning Workshop: “Creating Rapport with the Audience”
ages 13+, 10 am – 2 pm ( bring lunch). $65
This workshop addresses three areas: balance and control of the space, meeting and establishing
complicity with the audience and with partners, and problem solving as a method of working on stage.
The focus is on activating the internal emotional state of the audience and helping the actor to always
be interested rather than interesting.
11. Rob Mermin - Beginners Magic and Conjuring – ages 8 – 12, 11 am – 12:30 pm. $30

13. Julie Goell – Commedia and Clown Master Class, ages 12 +, 4 – 6 pm. $40
This master teacher of Commedia Dell' Arte demonstrates that everything you already know about comedy comes from Italy of the Baroque period: Street theater, improv, slapstick, comic timing, baggy pants, motley costumes, stock characters- they're all nothing new, and stem from a deep culture of improvised comedy rooted in the class wars of 16th century Italy. But never mind the history lesson, come and explore this valuable comic form!
SUN, MAY 16

One week prior to class, students will be given scenes from film or television scripts and should come into class off book and ready to work! Each student will be put on camera and will perform a scene with a reader (this is known as audition style). Final takes will be watched and critiqued. Prior acting experience a must.
15. Adele Myers and Dancers – Physical Theater, ages 13+, 11 am – 1 pm. $40
This award-winning dance company presents a workshop designed to identify and explore how performers “charge” a stage. By concentrating on the body in relation to time, space, energy, focus and intention, performers will investigate how to tell a story through action, learning to build onto a text, rather than relying on it - a must for any serious actor. This workshop is for individuals with any level of movement experience.
