Letter of Thanks

Brattleboro Reformer

The New England Youth Theatre would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the thousands of fans who came to our theatre this summer, and helped to make our eight-week summer program a resounding success. From Melodrama to Shakespeare, from Theatre Adventure Program’s Mary Poppins to the Alumni production of Red Noses, to Grease and Drama and Dress-up, you came and saw eye-popping productions and performances by kids from 5-19 and beyond. Approximately 200 youths participated in acting, directing, stage managing, costuming, building and painting sets, running lights and being stagehands.

New England Youth Theatre, celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, has never turned away any would-be participant in acting or technical theatre for lack of money.  Due to the downturn in the economy, NEYT this year has seen an unprecedented need for tuition assistance. To help meet this challenge, NEYT has created a financial aid program called “Angels in the Wings.”  This program encourages monthly direct-debit contributions all of which goes directly to student financial aid. To kick-start the Angels program, this summer Tony Barrand and Friends, local musician Deniz Cordell, and Noah Elbers of Orchard Hill Breadworks, among others, have generously donated the proceeds of benefit events. To find out more and to contribute to this worthy cause, please check our website at neyt.org, or call Michelle at NEYT at 802-246-6398.

Additional money to fund students in need in our technical theatre program, has been generously provided by the AKC Fund, the Henderson Foundation, The National Endowment for the Arts, and others. This support makes it possible for students from all backgrounds to participate in the magic of technical theatre, regardless of financial ability or prior experience.

Again, to the entire community of Brattleboro and the surrounding towns, and to our generous sponsors, funders, and angels, our deep gratitude to all who have contributed to our first 10 amazing years. We look forward to the next 10 years of great theatre, and for the opportunity of providing fun, engaging, dynamic learning opportunities for students of all abilities and inclinations who come through our doors. If you have never seen what these amazing kids can do, please check out our website and find out for yourself.  Better yet, come and see one of our upcoming shows.  You will find something for every member of the family at NEYT.
