NEYT Receives American Masterpieces Vermont Arts Council Grant
BRATTLEBORO— June 1, 2009—New England Youth Theatre was the recipient of a generous grant through the Vermont Arts Council and the National Endowment for the Arts to help fund the presentation of “Silents Are Golden: The Forgotten Art of Silent Film Acting” by American Masterpieces artist and Vermont native Rob Mermin. The evening presentation is part of NEYT’s first annual week-long Salmagundi theatre festival held from May 11-17, and Mermin is also teaching classes and workshops related to the silent film genre. NEYT’s Salmagundi theatre festival is open to everyone, adults and children alike, and offers an opportunity for the community to take classes with theatre professionals from across New England, from New York City and even as far as away as England. Classes and workshops are offered during the day and performances take place in the evenings. Everything is being held at NEYT’s theatre at 100 Flat Street in downtown Brattleboro.
