Putnam Smith

Putnam Smith is an actor, director, playwright, farmer, letterpress printer, teacher, singer-songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist. After graduating from Bowdoin College with a degree in philosophy, Putnam went on to receive his Master’s degree in Education from Lesley University. In his years in the theatre as an actor, director, and playwright, his favorite role has always been that of an educator working with youth. Whether teaching and directing youth shows at the Theater Project or traveling the state of Maine with Penobscot Theatre’s Shakespeare-in-the-Schools program, Putnam’s goal is always to create the conditions in which young people can best learn to work together, develop trust and mutual respect, take new risks, and grow as artists and human beings. Putnam presently serves as Program Coordinator for NEYT. www.putnamsmith.com
