MUSICAL THEATRE FOUNDATIONS

MUSICAL THEATRE: GROUP FUNDAMENTALS I
Ages 11-19
Saturdays, 9:30 -11am
September 7th thru October 26th
TUITION $250

This class is a great way to build your musical theatre skills and confidence as a performer. Through group and solo songs, we will explore vocal and acting techniques to communicate story and character. This class also devotes time to building an audition and solid rehearsal preparation. Culminates in a final recital on the mainstage for friends & family. Outside preparation expected.

MUSICAL THEATRE: REPERTOIRE & PERFORMANCE I
Ages 13-19

September 7th thru October 26th
TUITION $275

This class is for those students who have a strong musical theatre skill-set and are ready to push themselves. In addition to refining and honing technique, time will be devoted to the students’ individual needs, including college prep or professional auditions. Students will expand their "book" of repertoire, voice and acting technique will be incorporated into mock auditions, duets, and solos. Culminates in a final recital on the mainstage for friends & family. This is considered a more advanced course and as such students will be held to higher expectations. Outside preparation is required.

SENIOR ACTING STUDIO

SENIOR ACTING STUDIO: SCENE STUDY
Ages 13 -19
Wednesdays, 4-6:45pm
September 11th - October 23rd (no class October 2nd)
Tuition $180

This 6-week course is a swift exploration of acting craft using scenes from American contemporary plays. Students will learn how to approach text, space, and partner work in order to carve specific and engaged performances that move beyond the words. Outside preparation is expected. Space is limited.

Culminates in a fully-realized performance for friends and family on Wednesday, October 23rd at 7pm.

RED NOSE ACADEMY

Tuesday & Thursdays, 4-5:30pm
September 17th thru October 10th
Tuition $200

This is where maturing youngsters can build a deeper connection with theater by exploring a variety of clown traditions and skills in the creation of their very own clown act! Session ends with a final performance to share with friends & family. Academy “graduates” can choose to participate in the CLOWNTOWN 2019 performances. (Additional REHEARSALS Oct 29th & 30th performs November 1, 2, & 8, 9 more info at start of program.)

Saturday, October 19th 2-4pm - HAIRSPRAY “You Can’t Stop the Beat”
TUITION: $30 each session

Explore different choreographic styles of Musical Theatre dance with an emphasis on creating expressive character through movement. Each class teaches the choreography to a different famous musical production number and performs at class end.

Explore fundamental directing concepts through a series of brief scenes performed for one another. How is a director’s approach to material different than an actor’s? Come and play to find out.

Spend the day exploring skills that will serve you your whole life -- in or out of the theater – thinking on your feet, working collaboratively, keeping focus, and having fun! We'll explore traditional theater games as well as short form, long form, and structured improvisations. Come play!

The Monologue is the actor’s audition tool – and figures in plays of every time period. Learn the basics of preparing long speeches to share your best acting self. We will explore physicality, specificity, and chasing variety so your material (and you) can shine. Students come prepared with a memorized piece. Space is limited.
