Senior Company Summer Musical

ABOUT THE PROGRAM

This program offers a more intensive and rigorous musical theatre experience for our senior company students. A fully produced musical is mounted in three weeks and performed with a live student band. Participants are given the support they need to develop the vocal, dance, and acting skills required for high level musical storytelling. The added focus on building ensemble results in strong bonds between cast, crew, and faculty. Actors learn to take ownership of their storytelling and build awareness of what they are delivering and communicating to an audience. While there is room for all abilities in this production, some prior experience in musical theatre is recommended.

ABOUT THE SHOW
Tensions run high as fiery Lilli Vanessi and her pompous ex-husband, Fred Graham, battle both onstage and off in a musical version of Shakespeare’s Taming of the Shrew. Amidst the battling ex’s, chaos ensues as charming Lois Lane tries to support her gambling boyfriend, Bill Calhoun, who simultaneously attempts to evade the grasp of a few musically inclined gangsta heavies. The outcome is a quick witted and dazzling romp with some of Cole Porter’s most beloved and enduring songs. KISS ME, KATE won the first ever Tony Award for Best Musical, and with classic musical hits such as, “Why Can't You Behave,” Wunderbar” and “So In Love,” the end result is a show so darn hot, it sizzles.
