David Stern has been working in the professional theatre for over 25 years, and has chaired drama programs at The Middlesex School, Springfield High School, The Casablanca American School, and most recently Kimball Union Academy. Holding an MFA from Rutgers University, David has worked professionally as a director and designer throughout New England at companies including The Merrimack Repertory Theatre, New Jersey Shakespeare Festival, North Country Center for the Arts, The Weston Playhouse, and the New Ensemble Theatre which he founded in 1993. Passionate about education and educational philosophy, David has taught in numerous disciplines during his tenure including theatre, visual arts, dramatic literature, and English. Additionally, David is an accomplished watercolor painter and jeweler, having exhibited work at numerous galleries since the mid-90’s. In 2013 David started Artscapes, where he uses faux finishing and custom specialty painting to transform residential and commercial environments for his clients. David is the artistic Director of Main Street Arts in Saxtons River.
