Ayla Cordell

Ayla was beamed in from deep space for the merrymaking and perfect chaos of youth theater. Before that, she found her love for creative arts at places like NEYT and the Brattleboro School of Dance. She often thinks about the stories we tell ourselves and others--on and off the stage--and the many ways creative expression can wonderfully and weirdly disrupt and expand those narratives. Since earning a joint M.A. in English and Women’s, Gender, & Sexuality Studies from Brandeis University, Ayla has spent much of her time with her sweet cat Walter Lee, steaming milk into imperfect rosettas, and, when possible, singing, acting, or hanging upside down from a trapeze. She is thrilled to collaborate with John on her first assistant directing gig and grateful to work with youth again through one of her favorite mediums.
