Page to Stage is a program for maturing youngsters to explore the elements of theater by working together to adapt a lively storybook into a play. Kids will take part in games, explore characters, have fun with voices and language and physicality, and make costumes & scenery for a short, joyful play. For ages 14-19, Viewpoints is a way to understand that acting is not only about emotion, but also about an understanding of how to use the space of the stage and the timing of speech and movement. Viewpoints offers the actor a wider range of choices, from bolder to subtler. It wakes up the instincts so these choices are instantaneous. If you have taken time to make a choice, you have missed your moment. Anne Bogart, the developer of Viewpoints, has said, "Theater is about moving Time and Space." Viewpoints is a way to do this. Come explore. It’s fun and thrilling!

Adult Playwriting Workshop

Schedule: 10:00 AM-4:30 PM Two 3-hour sessions each day with a 30-min lunch break. (6.5 hours each day or 13 hours total)

Sliding Scale Tuition:

Participants will have ample time to develop, write, and workshop a scene from anywhere in their play. They are also welcome to bring a project already in development to work on and share. Everyone will have an opportunity to receive feedback from the workshop leader and from the other participants. By the end of the weekend, each participant will have a fleshed-out concept for a play and several pages of a draft to continue writing if they so desire and a strong sense of how to develop ideas into a script in the future. Last year's participants are more than welcome to join—the syllabus will be revamped with new examples and exercises.
