NEYT at the Welcome Center

On Monday, October 12th, NEYT will be taking over the Southeastern Vermont Welcome Center on I-91. We'll have tables where we can serve food and beverages, as well as information about our organization and particularly our annual fundraising event: Broadway in Brattleboro.

There are two ways you can help! We need donations of food/beverages to serve, and we also need people to take shifts sitting at the tables during the day and speaking to visitors about NEYT.

Please sign up below if you are able to donate and/or volunteer! Email Shannon with any questions at outreachdirector@neyt.org

Ages 14-19

Four Sessions

Sundays, 1:00 – 3:00 p.m.

November 1, 8, 15, and 22

For ages 14-19, Viewpoints is a way to understand that acting is not only about emotion, but also about an understanding of how to use the space of the stage and the timing of speech and movement. Viewpoints offers the actor a wider range of choices, from bolder to subtler. It wakes up the instincts so these choices are instantaneous. If you have taken time to make a choice, you have missed your moment. Anne Bogart, the developer of Viewpoints, has said, "Theater is about moving Time and Space." Viewpoints is a way to do this. Come explore. It’s fun and thrilling!

Page to Stage: Stone Soup
Sep

Page to Stage: Stone Soup

Our Fall Page to Stage will be the retelling of the classic folk tale, Stone Soup. When a group of hungry travelers seek out a meal, they are confronted with villagers unwilling to part with their food. The travelers come up with a simple plan, lure the villagers in with their ‘stone soup’, a big pot filled with boiling water and a big stone. They convince the villagers, one by one, that their soup just needs one more ingredient to be complete. In the end, they have a huge pot of soup to feed themselves and the villagers! Stone Soup is a charming tale that demonstrates the value of community, sharing, and friendship. This Page to Stage will be a fun and creative experience for all!

Open enrollment - Everyone who registers will receive a role that supports their learning and their desired level of involvement.

Page to Stage is a program for maturing youngsters to explore the elements of theater by working together to adapt a lively storybook into a play. Kids will take part in games, explore characters, have fun with voices and language and physicality, and make costumes & scenery for a short, joyful play. This welcoming introduction to the theatrical process will unfold as students make new friends, create lasting memories, and connect to their creativity.

Summer Classic: Animal Magnetism

Four Performances: Thu 7/9 7pm, Fri 7/10 7pm, Sat 7/11 2pm & 7pm

Elizabeth Inchbald’s 1788 farce is a brilliant riff on the art of deception and of revenge against the patriarchy.

The Doctor - a quack - practices amateur medical techniques on his servant and keeps his beautiful young ward (as well as her maid) under lock and key, intending to force her into marriage. A wealthy (and enamored) young stranger offers an escape route, and when his attendant arrives at the house disguised as an expert in mesmerism, the scene is set for the Doctor to get his comeuppance and the women to achieve their desires.
