Musical Theater Edition

Level up your tech abilities in this intermediate/advanced run crew camp. Participants will learn additional skills relating to their assigned backstage jobs as well as be able to learn about other jobs simultaneously. Participants are expected to have previous run crew experience. Learn More

Melodrama Edition

Introduction to Run crew camp is for those who love to move things, push buttons when requested, and overall support the actors on stage in live performance. Possible positions include light board operator, sound board operator, and backstage run crew. As this is an introduction, participants will learn everything they need to know about their backstage jobs to be successful supporters of the performance during the course of this camp. WAITLIST

NEYT’s most popular summer program brings the merriment and madness of melodrama! Playing heroes, villains, and fools, students make big, bold, silly choices while building vocal, physical, and comedic skills through theater games, improv, and clowning. After two weeks of colorful costumes, slapstick, and student-driven ideas, the cast performs for an enthusiastic audience in true melodrama style. WAITLIST

This summer, campers will learn how a production is costumed. Learn about and experience the entire process: reading the script, pulling costumes, fittings and alterations, and crewing the performances! This camp will run concurrently with Melodrama and campers will be guided by Monika Grist Weiner as they learn about and costume a real production. WAITLIST

In this camp, performers will create a character from the inside out while exploring drag as a powerful performance tool. Through costume, makeup, staging, and collaboration, participants will develop and perform original acts while examining how playing with gender can challenge stereotypes and inspire bold storytelling. Ready to build your musical theater skills? In this camp, students explore singing, dancing, acting, audition technique, and “acting the song” through scenes, solos, and duets. The program ends with a Family Sharing where campers can show off what they’ve learned. Waitlist

Join Dave and Francesca to work on lighting, sound, and scenic elements for the summer season of shows. Participants will be asked to use power tools, hand tools, paint tools, carry possibly heavy things, work collaboratively, have keen listening skills, pay strong attention to details, and be ready to have fun and get messy. This program offers a more intensive and rigorous theatre experience for our senior company students. This is a three-week immersion program exploring a literary classic. Participants ages 13-19 are given the support they need to develop their skill with language, voice, and physical story-telling as they rehearse a fully produced play. This is a challenging and fun experience under the guidance of professional practitioners. Waitlist

Ages 8-19
Monday-Friday 9am-12pm

Spend 5 half days exploring skills that will serve you your whole life, in or out of the theater: thinking on your feet, working collaboratively, keeping focus, and having fun! The best part is that in the learning of these things we also have a great time! We will explore traditional theater games as well as short form, long form, and structured improvisations. Come play!
